Project: Norfolk Christmas Net (2008)

This is an idea I've had since the 90s. A loose proposal was given to the Downtown Norfolk Council who handles the Grand Illumination Parade, on a solution to automate the illumination of the holiday lights (how PC!) at dusk each night in downtown Norfolk. The system would allow orderly, preprogrammed patternized illumination of all the buildings each night. This would make a really impressive skyline display from Portsmouth, or while on the streets in downtown Norfolk. Imagine standing on Main Street and seeing each building light up exactly one second apart, walking down the street. Special situations could be added for New Years as well.

An additional part suggested might get worldwide attention for the city. While something this progressive is unlikely to fly in Norfolk, it's always worth a shot. In the end, the failed efforts can be used in arguments as to why other regions are better.
